County board approves changing contact office

Cloud County board of commissioners Monday approved changing the contact office for information regarding the Flood Insurance Program and the Neighborhood Revitalization Program from the County Clerk’s office to the County Appraiser’s Office.
After discussion on a possible change in the wording on the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, the board voted to approve changing the reference to the County Clerk’s office to the County Appraiser’s office and Section 9 Paragraph B will be eliminated and change the application period from 30 days prior to beginning project to 30 days from beginning of construction, effective Feb. 1.
In other business, Charles Johnson, Glasco mayor, gave an update and presented pictures on the new fueling station that will be named the “Glasco Redline” and gave a brief history of its name and how Glasco will be promoting the fueling station.
Commissioners approved a resolution designating the County Clerk’s office as the office in Cloud County to provide assistance to persons wishing to register to vote, but who do not possess any of the valid documents needed to prove his or her U.S. citizenship for the purpose of registering to vote.
Diana Gering, Health administrator, reported several cases of measles have been reported in Kansas and wanted to remind parents to be sure their children have received the MMR vaccination. Children should receive the first dose of the vaccine at 12-15 months and a booster at 2-4 years.
Gering also reported that she and Vonda Pumarlo will be participating in a tabletop exercise at the Cloud County Health Center on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
Burl Maley and Sarah Jenkins, of the Cloud County Chemical Dependency Committee presented an overview of the services provided and presented the Committee’s  2012 funding agreement which the board voted to approve, in the amount not to exceed $25,000.
The board had two executive sessions. A 10-minute session to discuss attorney client privilege was requested by Robert Walsh and included Barry Porter. A five-minute session also requested by Walsh included highway administrator Andy Asch and Linda Bogart, County Clerk.
Asch informed the board that Cloud County will be host for the North Central Weed Directors’ monthly meeting Feb. 16 and discussed various other routine items.
In other matters the board
—approved the resignation of Patricia Mosher as Lincoln Township Clerk effective Jan. 19 because of a recent move out of the Township and approved the appointment of Carol McKenna as Lincoln Township Clerk as recommended by township board members.
—received a report from Sheryl Williams, County Treasurer on the sales tax and compensating use tax received in January 2012 (December sales) which was $63,240.27, compared to the $55,261.80 received in January 2011.
reviewed applications received for the maintenance manager position.
