Althea M. Bowyer, age 83, of Concordia, Kan., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born Feb. 21, 1929, to Webster and Lottie (Schmidt) Janke in rural Woodbine, Kan.
Althea graduated from Chapman High School. She married Vernon Bowyer on July 24, 1949. He preceded her in death May 29, 1998. They owned operated the Gamble Store in Concordia from 1970-1992.
Althea was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and The Social Order of Beauceant.
She is survived by three sons: Stanley (Vicki) Bowyer of Salina, Kan., Joel (Dawn) Bowyer of Concordia, Kan., and Lyle (Bonnie) Boyer of Ottawa, Kan.; one brother, Allen Janke of Manhattan; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia, Kan., with Pastor Tessa Zehring officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, from 1-8 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary Chapel.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church.
