Billy Joe "Tex" Read, age 69, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia.
Billy was born on March 22, 1943, in Decatur, Texas, to Earnest and Lois (Hudson) Read. Billy grew up in Texas. He married Charlotte Regnier on Feb. 2, 1966, in Concordia. Billy was a truck driver for Boogaarts; and Crete Trucking;  then worked at the Toy Factory before driving for Koch Excavating.
 Billy is survived by his wife, Charlotte, Concordia; daughter, Christina Read, Concordia; and son, Todd Read (Sharon), Lafayette, La.; half brother, Ernie Read, Jacksboro, Texas; grandchildren, Grant, Stephanie and Brady Read and great-granddaughter, Kylee Hillman. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, stepgrandson Stephan & half brother David.
 Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating.
 The family selected cremation. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, and the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.
