 GARY D. CHERNY SR.
 Gary D. Cherny Sr., age 72, formerly of Marysville, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, after a valiant fight against cancer. Gary was born on Nov. 30, 1940, in Marysville, Kan., to Alvin and Frances (Sabin) Cherny.
 Gary graduated from Frankfort High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. He married Dorothy A. Ryan of Topeka on June 8, 1968, in Blaine, Kan. Gary worked for Beattie and Herkimer Co-ops. He later worked for Marshall County Road and Bridge Department as a road maintenance operator until his retirement in 2002.
 Gary will be greatly missed by his extended family and a host of friends. He died peacefully surrounded by his wife and family.
 Gary is survived by his wife Dorothy, Concordia; daughters, Linda Rudolph and husband Edward of Clyde and Mary Brown and husband Scott of Odessa, Mo.; son, Gary "Bud" Cherny Jr. and wife Shelby of Gardner; sister, Norma Hartman of Omaha, Neb., and grandchildren, Laken and Lily Rudolph, Kylee Brown and Laney and Caden Cherny.
 He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
 Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Burial will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, with the military honors conducted by American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588. Closed casket visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
