GWEN (THOMPSON) RUNGE
 Gwen (Thompson) Runge, 82, of Emporia, Kan., passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, Kan.
 She was born Nov. 2, 1930, daughter of Albert and Alvera (Gilsdorf) Thompson in Lawrence, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband William E. Runge June 6, 1991, and her three sisters, Betty Marx, Dolly Beisner and Joanne Ziegler.
 She lived in Hebron, Neb. during her high school years, a member of the Wingettes and a graduate of Hebron High School. She married William Runge on Dec. 26, 1949. To this union four children were born, Cynthia, Thomas, Mark and Robert.
 She enjoyed reading, playing cards and her favorite hobby–quilting. She was a Religious Coordinator for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kan. for 14 years and was also a member of the Mothers’ Study Club.
 She is survived by her children: Cynthia Runge, Emporia; Thomas and wife Vicki Runge, Hays; Mark and wife Cathy Runge, Emporia and Robert and wife Joanna Runge, Newton; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 In lieu of flowers, the family request a memorial donation be made in Gwen’s memory to the Sisters of St. Joseph in support of the local “Neighbor to Neighbor––a Center for Women” program (103 East 6th Street, Concordia, KS 66901).
 Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kan.
