JAMES H. NORRIS
James H. Norris, son of Lloyd Norris and Edith (Smith) Norris, was born Oct. 23, 1926, at Norway, Kan., and passed away on July 27, 2013, at Belleville, Kan., at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 4 days.
James graduated from Norway High School in 1943. He served with the Naval Air Corps during World War II. He was united to marriage to Iva Gray on Dec. 28, 1952, and to this union three sons and one daughter were born. Iva passed away on Sept. 6, 1996. He was united in marriage to Helen I. Starr Mosher on Sept. 30, 2000. He was a corn farmer all of his life in the Norway, Kan., community.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia, Kan., Belleville Masonic Lodge No. 129 AF & AM, Ophel Chapter No. 115 Order of Eastern Star, Belleville, Kan., VFW Post No. 3722, Belleville, Kan., Albert Isaacson-James Larsen-Robert Sjolander American Legion Post No. 193, Scandia, Kan., Belleville Flyers Club, Kansas and Nebraska Ham radio operators club, Corn Growers of Kansas, Norway Fire Department and Norway Cemetery Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Edith Norris, wife, Iva Norris, daughter, Jean Wessling, brother, Arnold Norris, sister, Ruby Moravek.
He is survived by his wife, Helen I. Norris of Norway, Kan., three sons, James W. (Amy) Norris of Concordia, Kan., Donald Norris and friend Judy Williams of Arlington, Texas, Lloyd (Trish) Norris of Salina, Kan.; four stepsons, Roger D. (Mary) Mosher of Wichita, Kan., Gerold L. (Jane) Mosher of Kansas City, Mo., Alan D. (Jackie) Mosher of Overland Park, Kan., Andrew P. Mosher of Deadwood, S.D.; son-in-law, Gerald Wessling of Beloit, Kan.; two grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia, Kan., conducted by the Rev. Joseph Koechner.
Interment will be in Norway Cemetery, Norway, Kan.
Graveside services by Ophel Chapter No. 115, Order of Eastern Star, Masonic Graveside service by Belleville Masonic Lodge No. 129 AF & AM, military graveside service by Albert Isaacson-James Larsen-Robert Sjolander American Legion Post No. 193, Scandia, Kan.
Memorials may be given to Norway Community Hall, American Cancer Society or Salvation Army.
Friends may call on Monday from 1-9 p.m., Tuesday, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kan., where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
