Ruth Irene (Trost) Mulsow passed away peacefully at Deseret Health and Rehabilitation Center in Yates Center, Kan., on Feb. 11, 2014. She was 88.
Ruth was born on May 11, 1925, at the home of her parents, William and Elma (Smith) Trost in Huscher, Kan. Ruth grew up in Concordia, Kan., and attended Concordia High School, graduating in 1943. After high school Ruth attended classes at Kansas State University in order to get her teaching certificate. She then taught school for several years in Cloud County, Kansas.
 Later, on May 18, 1952, she was united in marriage to Richard C. Mulsow at the Huscher Church east of Concordia, Kan. The couple then made their home in Yates Center, Kan., and began their family. Ruth was a mother of three sons and one daughter: Richard "Dick," Dan, Duane and Dana.
 Ruth was active in her younger years; she was involved in Vacation Bible School at her church, and she also was a saleslady for Avon and Stanley products. She was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association and Turkey Creek Church for many years.
 Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family as well as crocheting and oil painting along with an occasional piano session.
  Ruth Irene (Trost) Mulsow was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard on Feb. 27, 2013, her beloved sons Duane in 1982 and Dick in 2009; brothers Melvin, John and Keith Trost, and great-granddaughter, Alexis Van Dyke. She is survived by her children: Dan Mulsow of Yates Center, Kan., Dana Keling of Topeka, Kan., and daughter-in-law Susan Mulsow of Iola, Kan. Ruth also is survived by her siblings: Lola Gropp of Concordia, Kan., Evelyn Woolston of Boone, Iowa, Wilo Harris of Whitefish, Mont., Cynthia Ormston of Marshallton, Iowa, and Donald Trost of Sutherland, Iowa. In addition to those already mentioned Ruth also is survived by her grandchildren: Garrett, Emily and Carly Mulsow; Amanda, Melissa and Kyle Mulsow; Amber Keling-Chadbourne and Rachel Keling; and by two great-grandchildren: Tianna and Addison Mulsow. Ruth also is survived by many other relatives and friends.
 Funeral services for Ruth Irene (Trost) Mulsow were at 1:30 this afternoon at Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, Kan. Burial followed in Askren Cemetery, Yates Center.
