SISTER JACQUELYN KIRCHER
Sister Jacquelyn Kircher died Dec. 6, 2012, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, Kan. She was 81 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 62 years. She was born in Escanaba, Mich., on Aug. 21, 1931, to Louis and Evangeline McGee Kircher, the fifth of five children, and was baptized Jacquelyn Ann. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kan., on Sept. 7, 1949. On March 18, 1950, Jacquelyn received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Mary Lorian. Changes in religious life gave her the opportunity to return to her baptismal name Jaquelyn (Jackie). She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1951, and final vows on March 19, 1954.
Sister Jackie began her service to the community as a teacher in Concordia, Salina, Cawker City and Aurora, Kan., and in Fairbury, Neb. In 1965 Sister Jackie graduated from Marymount College with a BA in English. In 1970 she graduated from Wichita Business College with an Accounting certificate. Furthering her education, Jackie graduated in 1982 from Emporia State University with a BSE in Business Education and in 1983 with an MS in Business Education.
In 1982 Sister Jackie began working for the community as an accountant in the Finance Department. She served in this position until her retirement in 2008.
Sister Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. A Bible Vigil Service will be  held Dec. 9, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Marcia Allen as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Dec. 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m . in the Motherhouse Chapel with the Rev. James Hoover presiding. The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery.
Nutter Mortuary, 116 E. 6th St., Concordia, Kan., is in charge of arrangements. Memorials for Sister Jacquelyn Kircher may be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph Health Care/Retirement Fund or the Apostolic Works of the Sisters, P.O. BOX 279, Concordia, KS 66901.
