Letter to the Editor 2-22-13
The recent full page ad in the Advertiser gave us some ideas to think about in building a hospital.
1. We want CCHC ready to handle the medical needs of Cloud County.
2. We want to retain physicians and visiting medical specialists.
3. We want a new hospital that provides emergency x-ray and lab in close proximity.
4. We need a new hospital.
Can we really have these needs met by not making a sacrifice? If you spend $100 in Cloud County, you would pay $.75 in added sales tax.
If we travel to Salina to see a doctor and make only two trips per year, we would spend more than $150, which is about what an average person would pay who has a gross annual income of $35,000.
We like the idea of the hospital being tied in with the airport. This would be an asset in speeding up transfer of patients to another hospital. This would also be an asset in bringing specialized doctors to use this facility.
We are becoming aging members of the citizens of Cloud County. We would like to know that we have a hospital that will meet our needs and he needs of Cloud County.
We will be voting yes on Feb. 26.
Bernard and Cynthia Newell
