The sense of community is one of the many strengths that our forefathers instilled in the citizens of Cloud County. It is a great benefit of, as well as a great necessity for an agriculture-based economy to be successful. In two weeks, I will be turning 50 and all but two of these years I have lived in Cloud County. My extended family has lived here for more than six generations. In Concordia, our family has had business interests for more than 60 years, and has had agriculture concerns for a much longer period of time. It is because of this sense of community that my hope is that many more generations of our family will live and prosper here in Cloud County.
For the last several months, an opportunity for our community has been discussed in great length, even though the planning and effort has occurred for several years. Next Tuesday, the citizens of our community will have the opportunity to vote on a new health care facility that would be the foundation to build a quality health care system that would benefit all the citizens of Cloud County for generations to come.
Nothing that promises great benefit comes without investment and risk. This is one truth I have learned in business. Another truth is that doing nothing more times than not gives diminishing results. Personally, I tend to look to the positive, and with all the debate in recent months, a truth has presented itself and that truth is that if investment is not made in Cloud County's health care system, the long-term results will be diminishing, and if an investment is made by and for the community, the community as a whole will benefit greatly. So I ask you to vote YES on Tuesday's ballot.
