Ames/Miltonvale road striping must wait until next year

 Because of weather and time restraints, the center-line striping of the Ames/Miltonvale road will not be done until later next year.
Andy Asch, highway administrator, presented this information to the Cloud County board of commissioners at their weekly meeting Monday. He also presented a cost estimate for the project in the amount of $2,759.48.
 In other highway department business, Asch reported the bridge located 1 mile west and 1 1/2 miles north of Hollis, on the Cloud/Republic County line, has been accepted for cost share funds in 2015.
Sheriff Brian Marks presented a hiring authorization for Austin Howard as part-time corrections officer, effective Oct. 7, at a rate of $10 per hour, which the board approved.
Solid Waste director Justin Murdock reported the Recycling Center had shipped a load of shredded paper last week and will be shipping a load of hardback books this week. So far this year, 316 tons of recyclables have been shipped.
Health administrator Diana Gering discussed the drive-thru flu shot clinic that was held Oct. 5 and various other items with the board.

Commissioners attended the owners' meeting Oct. 1 at the jail site and are attending the owners' meeting at the jail site today, Oct. 8.
