Brown Mackie sweeps T-Birds

Racking up 17 runs, Brown Mackie College dealt the Cloud County Community College softball team a pair of home losses on Tuesday.
Brown Mackie scored six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to capture a 9-5 victory in the first game, and used a five-run fifth inning to win the second game, 8-5.
Cloud County falls to 7-5 overall and 5-5 in the Region 6 Division II standings.
Brown Mackie is now 11-7 overall and 7-3 in the region.
One run in the first inning and two in the top of the third gave Brown Mackie a 3-0 lead in game one.
Cloud County’s Sierra Eason walked and scored on a ground ball by Chatley Lovvorn in the bottom of the third inning.
The Thunderbirds put up three runs in the fourth inning to grab a 4-3 advantage.
Kelsey Jones led off with a home run.
Tavia Fazel singled, and Eason drove her in.
A single by Madison Bryant got Eason home.
Brown Mackie reclaimed the lead at 5-4 with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
The Lions tacked on four runs in the sixth, and led 9-4.
Jessica Downard doubled and scored on a single by Mikayla Soderstrom in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it a 9-5 game.
Jones pitched five innings in taking the loss for Cloud County. She gave up eight runs on 13 hits, struck out one and walked four.
Savanna Luke allowed one run on three hits and struck out one in two innings.
Kaylee Mick had three hits for the T-Birds.
Bryant, Downard and Jones had two hits each.
Cloud County jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning in game two.
Easton was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
Lovvorn singled with one out, and Downard followed with a run-producing single.
A two-out single by Soderstrom knocked in two runs.
Brown Mackie scored one run in the second inning and two in the third to tie the game at 3-3.
Sending 10 batters to the plate, the Lions scored five runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth inning, and led 8-3.
Downard hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth.
Eason singled and scored on a double by Lovvorn in the seventh inning.
Luke took the loss. She gave up eight runs on 15 hits in seven innings. She struck out five and walked three.
Lovvorn and Downard had two hits each for the T-Birds.
