Carol Jean Douglas, age 51, of Manhattan, Kan., was suddenly taken from us to her home in heaven on Friday, April 19, 2013. Carol was born on May 11, 1961, in Concordia, Kan., to Louis C. Douglas and Maxine (Haskins) Douglas.
She graduated from Clyde High School in 1979. In 1995, she graduated from NCKAVTS, Beloit, and successfully passed her Kansas State Board. Carol worked since her teens as a Nurse assistant, then as an LPN in many areas of nursing, most recently in the area of Home Health as a special advocate to the special children assigned to her. Nurse Carol, as she was called by "her kids," always went the extra mile to improve their quality of life for them and their families.
She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Ann Douglas, Manhattan; two grandchildren, Corena Jean Douglas Cook and Toby Michael Douglas Cook; her friend and companion, Kevin Luthi, of the home and Charles and Barb Luthi, her "other folks;" mother, Maxine Boling, Clyde; sister, Kathleen Ann Douglas Zahm and Bruce, Narka; brother, Scott Douglas and half-brother, Todd Douglas, Clyde; nephew, Seth Zahm, and girlfriend Jeri and their son Brennan; Brogan Zahm and Braxton, Barleigh and Brayden; her special uncle Dennis and aunt Sherri Douglas, Clyde; cousins, Chris and Eric Douglas and families and a host of her extended family and friends
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis; brother, Steven Douglas and grandparents, Ralph and Olive Haskins and Roland and Teresa Douglas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, with the Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. Visitation will be from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. with a Parish Rosary at 4:00 Tuesday at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. The family suggest memorials to the Carol J.
