Concordia High School's Winter Sports Spirit Week began Monday with a number of activities leading up to the weekend celebration.
Candidates for the Winter Sports king and queen who will be crowned Friday night between the girls and boys varsity basketball games with Chapman are Daniel Longfellow, Brentin Hake, Nathan Gieber, Joel Timme, Romy Rohovit, Danae Gennette, Ashley Adams, Emily Brown, Alyssa Champlin and Marie Brewer. Crowning will take place at approximately 7:45 p.m.
On Monday students were asked to wear their PJs to school and "put the Irish to sleep."
Tuesday was Ugly Sweater Day with students wearing sweaters that represent the Clay Center Tigers (Thursday's wrestling team opponent) getting "knocked ugly by the Panthers."
Wednesday will be Nerd Day when students are encouraged to "make the Irish look silly."
Thursday each individual class has a color they will represent: seniors, purple; juniors, blue; sophomores, yellow; freshmen, pink.
Friday students are asked to wear Panther apparel.
Winter Sports action starts Thursday night when the Panther wrestling team takes on the Clay Center Tigers in an important NCKL dual. On Friday afternoon king and queen candidates will be introduced at an assembly in the CHS auditorium beginning at 2:45.
Winter Sports Week will conclude with a dance Saturday from 8-10 p.m. in the Junior Varsity gym with music provided by Emmet Rudolph.
