WAMEGO — Winning the final three matches, two by forfeit, the Concordia High School wrestling team defeated Wamego 42-33 in a North Central Kansas League dual on Thursday night.
Concordia, now 1-1 in the League, trailed Wamego through the first 11 matches of the dual.
Skyler Hittle pinned Wamego’s Casey Feyh in the 195-pound class.
Kyle Marks, 220, and Stafen Guevara, 285, won by forfeit to give the Panthers the win in their first outing after semester break.
“I am proud of the way these young men are progressing in their technique and match awareness,” Concordia coach Kevin Brown said, “Even in the losses, I see improvement in the way these young men are starting to compete. With each week we will continue to improve, which makes this group very fun to watch and coach.”
Concordia got out to a 12-0 lead in the dual.
Cameron Miller pinned Dylan Bloom in the 106-pound class.
James McCabe, 113, pinned Jake Katzenberg.
The Panthers then suffered three consecutive losses to fall behind, 15-12.
Gage Canfield dropped a 7-1 decision to Dalton Carley in the 120-pound class.
Isaac Sprague, 126, was pinned by Jacob Dietrich.
Lane Collins, 132, lost by fall to Kyle Wilson.
Concordia picked up two straight wins.
Drake Hake won a 14-2 major decision over Braylon Simonsson in the 138-pound class.
Keenan Edwards, 145, defeated Hunter Cragg, 10-7.
Concordia’s Jared Knapp lost by fall to Dylan Campbell in the 152-pound class.
There were then three straight forfeits.
The Panthers gave up a forfeit to Joe Haug in the 160-pound class.
Shea Crum, 170, won by forfeit for Concordia.
Concordia was open at 182, and Shawn Burns won by forfeit.
The Panthers then registered three straight wins.
Concordia will compete in the Clearwater Invitational on Jan. 12.
