GARDEN CITY – Cloud County rallied from a 3-0 deficit with five runs over the final eight innings to win the final game of a four game series here with Garden City Community College on Sunday.
The T-Birds split a four game series over the weekend winning the first game on Saturday 9-6 before losing game two 13-6.
The T-Birds lost the first game on Sunday 3-2.
Garden City scored three runs in the first inning of the final game.
The T-Birds got on the board in the second when Skye O’Neil doubled and scored on a groundout by Daniel Schafer.
Cloud County added two in the third.
Jackson Cain led off the inning with a single, Jesse Rall tripled to score Cain.
Roger Diaz drove in Rall with a groundout.
Cain singled in the fifth and scored on a single by O’Neil to give the T-Birds a 4-3 lead.
Cloud County padded the lead with a run in the eighth.
O’Neil tripled and scored on a wild pitch.
O’Neil had four hits and scored two runs and Cain had three hits and scored two runs in the game.
Trevor Rinne pitched the first eight innings allowing three runs on three hits.
He struckout nine and walked three.
Aaric Woodyard pitched the final inning allowing no runs and no hits, he struckout two.
In the first game of the series Cloud County took an early lead scoring five runs in the first inning.
Austin White singled to lead off the game, JD Peterson reached on an error and Jackson Cain singled home White with the first run of the game.
Roger Diaz drove in two more with a single and Chase Reibenspies plated a run with a sacrifice fly.
White singled again in the inning, driving in a run to give the T-Birds the 5-0 lead.
Cloud County scored four more in the second.
Cain was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
Rall walked and a bunt by Diaz scored Cain.
O’Neil, Schafer and White all singled to drive in runs.
Garden City scored one run in the second, two in the fourth and three in the sixth for the 9-6 final.
White had four singles in the game.
Diaz had two hits and drove in three runs.
Caleb Blumer pitched the first five and two thirds innings allowing six runs on eight hits, he struckout one and walked two.
Woodyard pitched the final one and one third innings; allowing no runs and no hits, he struckout three and walked one.
The T-Birds took an early 1-0 lead in the second game on Saturday when White led off the game with a single and scored on a fly ball by Rall.
Garden City answered with six runs in the bottom of the first, taking a 6-1 lead.
Cloud County got two back in the second on a two RBI single by Jordan Brown.
The T-Birds added a run in the fourth when Cal Zagurski tripled and later scored.
The Broncbusters added five in the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-4 lead.
Cloud County got two more in the sixth.
Rall and Diaz both reached on errors and scored on a single by Reibenspies.
Garden City added two in the eighth for the 13-6 final.
Zagurski and Reibenspies each had two hits for the T-Birds.
Zach DeMars and Brendan Hardaway pitched for Cloud County.
DeMars allowed 11 runs on seven hits; he walked four and struckout one.
Hardaway allowed two runs on five hits; he walked three and struckout two.
Garden City scored their only three runs of the first game Sunday in the second inning taking a 3-0 lead.
Cloud County battled back with a pair of runs in the fifth, but that was all the scoring in the game.
Rall led off the Cloud County half of the fifth inning with a single.
Diaz followed with a walk.
A one-out groundball by Reibenspies scored Rall and a two-out double by Schafer scored Diaz.
Steven Federau and Zachary Larkin pitched for the T-Birds.
Federau allowed three runs on three hits; he walked six and struckout two.
Larkin allowed no runs on three hits.
