Cloud County board of commissioners Monday approved a revised surfacing policy presented by highway administrator Andy Asch.
The cost of gravel will increase by 60 cents per ton on Jan. 1, 2014. The policy change will increase the cost share for the landowner from $4 per ton to $4.35 per ton.
In other business the board approved signing a letter to the Kansas Department of Transportation supporting the efforts of the Concordia Senior Citizens Center in applying for assistance in covering the operating expenses to provide public transportation services within the city of Concordia.
At the request of Susie Haver and Tammy Britt, Convention and Tourism directors, the board approved appointing Matt Farmer to fill the unexpired term of Larry Sorell, who has resigned.
Justin Murdock, Solid Waste director, reported a load of #8 newspaper from the Recycling Center had been shipped. A load of cardboard will be shipped this week. In 2013 the Center has shipped a total of 408 tons of recyclables.
Diana Gering, Health Department administrator, reported her office has 145 doses of flu vaccine left.
Commissioners approved paying the following invoice on behalf of the Public Building Commission: Zahner Hansen Construction Group, $42,353.10.
