County collections down considerably from 2012

 Amount of sales tax and compensating use tax received in October (September Sales) in Cloud County was down considerably from the amount received in 2012.
 County treasurer Sheryl Williams reported at the Cloud County Commission meeting Monday that the amount received in October was $61,072.22, compared to the amount received in October 2012 of $67,209.01.
 In other business, highway administrator Andy Asch presented a wage change for Ronald Bergstrom from $12.80 per hour to $13.44 per hour, because of Bergstrom's reaching the end of his introductory period which the board approved.
 Commissioners also approved two right of way use permits with Rural Water District #1 presented by Asch for the  buried water line approximately 40' West of 160th Road across Eagle Road and for the buried water line approximately 3/8 mile north of Key Road, crossing 145th Road.
 Asch reported his department is continuing to patch roads and that employees are doing ditch and pipe work.
 Diana Gering, Health administrator, reported her department will be conducting  an evening walk-in flu shot clinic from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14.
In other business the board
•discussed collection of mortgage registration fees with Judy Lambert, register of deeds.
•acknowledged the resignation of Levi Herring as transport driver at the Sheriff's Department  effective Nov. 28.
•approved the reappointment of Sister Beth Stover to a three-year term on the Pawnee Mental Health Services board.
•approved the hire of Donna James as part-time corrections officer, effective Nov. 4, at a rate of $10 per hour
•approved signing a three-year farm lease for the Transfer Station land with Karl Jacobsen with an annual lease payment of $6,125.
•received an invitation from Larry Uri, Concordia city manager, to attend a study session with the Concordia City Commissioners on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 4 p.m. to discuss the ALCO building.
•visited with JJA/Community Corrections director Ellen Anderson; Kansas Secretary of Corrections Ray Roberts; Deputy Secretary of Corrections Johnny Goddard; and State Sen. Elaine Bowers.
 Adjournment was at 10:55 a.m.
Commissioners attended the Kansas Association of Counties annual meeting Oct. 29-31 in Wichita.
 The Courthouse, Health Department and all other county offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
 Next commission meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 12.
