County commission sign Emergency Preparedness Grant application

Cloud County board of commissioners Monday approved the chairman to sign the Emergency Preparedness Grant application  presented by Diana Gering and Diane McNichols, co-Health administrators.
Commissioners also approved signing the Memorandum of Understanding with Republic County for Family Planning Services presented by McNichols.
The board had a 15-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel . Included in the session were Gering, McNichols and County Clerk Linda Bogart.
In other business, commissioners voted to appoint chairman Gail Engle as the KAC Voting Delegate at the annual conference to be held Nov. 14-16 in Overland Park. They also approved appointment of Commissioner Gary Caspers as first alternate voting delegate and commissioner Johnita Crawford as second alternate voting delegate to the KAC annual conference.
Highway administrator Andy Asch reported his department is still working to make repairs after the recent flooding and is spraying for Johnson grass. He also discussed the road and bridge problem reported last week (4 miles east of Glasco at the first bridge south of U.S. Highway 24.)
In other business the board
—discussed the new state smoking ban and the county purchasing card policy with  Robert Walsh, County Attorney.
—approved department payrolls totaling $119,745.96.
—approved a resolution in support of North Central Regional Planning Commission renewing the Kansas Enterprise Zone.
—heard district sanitarian Gary May’s monthly update.

The board and Asch will attend an informational meeting at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, at Concordia City Hall concerning the Concordia Flood Control Project.
