Eighth grade boys fall to Clay Center

CLAY CENTER — Outscored 10-7 in the fourth quarter, the Concordia eighth grade boys' basketball team dropped a narrow 30-28 decision to Clay Center on Thursday.
Concordia led 21-20 heading into the final period, but Clay Center rallied to get the win.
Billy Bechard led Concordia with 12 points. Garrett Lawrence scored six.
The Panthers had a slim 8-7 lead after one quarter of play.
Clay Center limited Concordia to five points in the second period, and scored six to pull even at 13-13.
The Panthers tossed in eight points in the third quarter, to seven for Clay Center, and led 21-20.
The Concordia B-team lost 45-27 to Clay Center.
Clay Center led just 15-14 at halftime, and scored 30 points in the second half to 13 for the Panthers.
Isaac Mehl scored seven points for Concordia. Trevor McDaniel and Torin Fellows added five points each.
