F&A wins K-18 tournament

WASHINGTON — Ethan Bechard tossed a one-hitter and Ian Nordell hit a walkoff home run to lead unbeaten F&A Food Sales to an 11-0 win over the Belleville Bandits in the championship  game of the K-18 Baseball Republican Valley/City of Concordia League Tournament Saturday night.
Bechard allowed only a sixth-inning double. He struck out nine and walked four in five innings.
With F&A Food Sales leading 9-0, Nordell homered with Logan Widen aboard in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 11-0 and end the game because of the 10-run rule.
F&A Food Sales knocked off Concordia rival Citizens National Bank 17-6  in the semifinals when Trevor Tholstrup hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game.
Both F&A Food Sales and Citizens National Bank will play in the K-18 Baseball East Regional at the Concordia Sports Complex beginning Tuesday night.
F&A Food Sales led Belleville just 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning.
Jacob Palmquist led off the inning with a single. Nordell walked and Blaze Payeur singled.
Bechard drove in two runs with a double and scored on a single by Colby Trost.
F&A Food Sales upped the lead to 9-0 with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Caleb Strait walked with one out, and Nordell was hit by a pitch with two outs.
Payeur knocked in two runs with a double.
Bechard walked, and Tholstrup doubled to drive in a run.
Trost had a run-producing single.
Logan Widen singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning.
With two out, Nordell homered to end the game.
Nordell had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three.
Payeur had two hits, knocked in two runs and scored two.
Bechard drove in two runs and scored two.
Trost had two hits and drove in two runs.
F&A Food Sales led Citizens National Bank just 8-6 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning in the semifinals on Friday night, but erupted for nine runs to put the game away.
Bechard got things started with a single, and Tholstrup tripled him home.
Trost knocked in a run with a single, but was thrown out at second base.
Widen and Dalton Walters singled and Garrett Lawrence drove in two runs.
Lawrence would come around to score.
Nordell walked, and with two out Bechard doubled.
Tholstrup hit a three-run home run to end the game.
Trost pitched the first four innings to get the win. Widen finished up.
Isaac Meyer, Billy Bechard and Tyler Stupka pitched for Citizens National Bank.
Matthew James walked and scored a run for Citizens National Bank in the top of the first inning.
Citizens National Bank left the bases loaded in the inning.
F&A Food Sales answered with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Ethan Bechard and Tholstrup each singled and scored.
Scoring three runs in the top of the second inning, Citizens National Bank went back on top, 4-2.
James, Trevor Lowell and Billy Bechard singled and scored in the inning.
F&A Food Sales reclaimed the lead at 5-4 with three runs in the bottom of the second.
Strait and Nordell singled and scored and Lawrence walked and scored.
Payeur had a two-run single.
Citizens National Bank tied the game at 5-5 when Lowell singled and scored in the top of the fourth inning.
F&A Food Sales scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to go on top to stay, 8-5.
Lowell singled and scored a run in the top of the sixth inning, and Citizens National Bank trailed just 8-6.
F&A Food Sales ended the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Tholstrup had three hits, drove in four runs and scored three.
Lawrence drove in two runs and scored three.
Ethan Bechard had four hits and scored three runs.
Nordell scored three runs.
Payeur drove in two runs.
Walters had two hits and Strait scored two runs.
Lowell had three hits and scored three runs for Citizens National Bank.
James scored  two runs.
The top four teams from the regional tournament will advance to the state tournament, to be played next week in Lucas.
