Hanover slips past Smith Center in Peewee championship

Hanover used a six-run fourth inning to slip past Smith Center 6-5 in the championship game of the Peewee Baseball State Tournament Friday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The Beloit Mudhens downed the Beloit Clippers 5-3 in the third-place game.
Scoring one run in the third inning and one in the top of the fourth, Smith Center led Hanover 2-0 in the title game.
Hanover then batted around, and scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to go up 6-2.
Smith Center battled back to make it a 6-5 game with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, and had baserunners at second and third when the final out was recorded.
In the third-place game, the Beloit Clippers got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on the Mudhens.
The Mudhens closed the gap to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the third inning.
Scoring three runs the top of the fifth inning, the Mudhens went up 5-3.
The Clippers loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth, but were unable to score.
Hudson Smith and Walker Shaffer did the pitching for the Mudhens.
Braxton Eilert and Vincent Palen pitched for the Clippers.
