Ivan E. Worthen, Otis, Kan., died Dec. 5, 2012, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. He was born Nov. 23, 1921, at Vinson, Okla., to Jeffie
Earl and Velma Clara (Akers) Worthen.
He married Imogene Carpenter Feb. 15, 1948, at Mangum, Okla. She died Jan. 3, 1999. He was a Concordia, Kan., resident since 2007 coming from Otis, Kan. Ivan was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked at the helium plant, sold insurance for Farm Bureau and finished at the Otis State Bank as a cashier and retired as senior vice president. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lions Club for which he was a three term president, Otis VFW Post #3147, American Legion and former member of the Masonic Lodge, LaCrosse, Kan. He was a former Boy Scout leader.
Survivors: Two sons, Gregory (Greg) Worthen and wife Arlinda, Concordia, Kan., Lane Worthen and wife Susan, McKinney, Texas; one daughter, Mary Karen Gregg, Wichita; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Thomas Gregg and two brothers, Jack Worthen and Charles Worthen.
Services: Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, 2 p.m., United Methodist Church at Otis with the Rev. David Fabarez officiating. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, Kan., and Saturday from 1 p.m. to service time at the United Methodist Church, Otis. Interment: Otis Methodist Cemetery, Otis, Kan., with graveside military rites by the United States Navy.
