Cloud County board of commissioners Monday agreed not to cut funding for the Jamestown Senior Center.
At the Feb. 19 commission meeting representatives from the Cloud County Commission on Aging had asked about the procedure for removing the Jamestown Senior Center from the commission because of its inactivity and inability to have representatives attend board meetings.
Th board took the matter into consideration and after receiving a letter from the residents of Jamestown concerning their Center determined that
their town should remain on the commission.
In other business, highway administrator Andy Asch and the board opened four tire bids received from Kansasland, Concordia; Becker Tire, Salina; Commercial Tire, Salina; and Thompson's OK Tire, Beloit.
Commissioners asked Asch to review the bids and determine the lowest bid for each type of tire and report back to them next week.
Commissioner Johnita Crawford reported she had received complaints concerning two county roads. The first was concerning a tree problem at 110th Road and Hawk Road and the second concerned the culvert 1 1/2 miles north of Union Road on 170th Road. The board asked Asch to check into these problems and report back next week.
Diana Gering, Health administrator, presented the 2014 grant applications for board approval. Commissioners approved allowing chairman Gail Engle to sign the 2014 applications totaling $86,648.75 for Family Planning, Maternal Child Health, Immunization Action Plan and Child Care Licensing.
Gering also presented the 2013 Employment Agreement with Christine Rogers for Home Health Dietary Services. Commissioners approved signing the contract at a rate of $45 per hour for dietary consultations.
In other business the board
—approved department payrolls totaling $127,929.26.
—approved signing the recycling trailer agreement with the City of Clyde.
—heard a report from Emergency Preparedness Director Larry Eubanks on the Storm Spotters Class that was held March 11 at Cloud County Community College
and attended by 75 people
Commissioner Crawford attended the Tourism meeting March 12.
