Dear Editor,
I spent the last weekend in our local hospital and I cannot say enough good things about the care I received. Kendra and Ali, you are awesome nurses. Dr. Breault was the on-call doctor this weekend and what an intelligent, down-to-earth, lovely young woman!  We are blessed to have her in Concordia.
My daughters came from Lawrence with their plan to take me back to Lawrence to a “real” hospital. After they met the nurses and the doctor and saw the care I was receiving, they confidently went home and left me here.
The sad thing is that you really become aware of how outdated the current hospital facility is when you spend a little time actually using it. My daughters just laughed at the shared bathrooms and the shower “down the hall and around the corner.” The size of the operating room and having emergency on the 4th floor are not laughing matters.
I also felt blessed that I didn't have to leave Concordia to get the care I needed. My hope is that we can provide a new, updated facility so that we can keep the great professionals that we have and provide good medical care right here in Concordia. You never know when you will be the one who needs a hospital quickly.
