Levi Deneault, age 92, of Concordia, Kan., died Jan. 27, 2013, at Sunset Home.
He was born April 5, 1920, in Concordia, Kan., to Victor and Henrietta (Goyette) Deneault. He attended Concordia rural schools. Levi was in World War II serving from November 1941 to September 1945. He served with the 5th Air Force Bomber Crew in the South Pacific. Levi received a Purple Heart. He returned home in 1945 to farming in the Concordia area. He married Dolores Schmitt on Oct. 22, 1947. He farmed and lived south of Concordia until moving into Concordia in 1969. He was a paint contractor/farmer until his retirement. Levi was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus and National Farmers' Union.
He volunteered his services as a military member in doing military duties at funerals for more than 400 plus veterans.
Survivors: wife, Dolores of the home; Sam (Linda) Deneault of Garland, Texas; Deanna (Jerry) Link of Delphos, Kan., Brenda Deneault of Concordia, Kan., Jolene (Rod) Crotinger of Concordia, Kan., Don (Jeanette) Deneault of Concordia, Kan., Galen (Debbie) Deneault of Concordia, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Livengood and Gloria Hall Hoffman; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his great-grandchild Karsten Begnoche.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kan., with Fr. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will be in St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, from 1-8 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary Chapel, 116 E. 6th, Concordia. Vigil/Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. with Fr. Brinkman.
