MARYSVILLE — Clay Center slipped past the Concordia seventh grade boys' basketball team 29-27 in the opening round of the North Central Kansas League Tournament on Monday.
Concordia trailed 10-9 after one quarter of play.
The Panthers outscored Clay Center 10-4 in the second stanza to take a 19-14 lead.
Clay Center limited Concordia to four points in the third period, and scored eight to pull within a point, 23-22.
The Panthers managed just four free throws in the final quarter, and Clay Center tossed in seven points to rally for the win.
Corben Monzon led Concordia with eight points. Tanner Smith added six points.
