Panthers finish fourth at Sabetha

SABETHA — The Concordia High School volleyball team picked up three wins in pool play and finished fourth in the Sabetha Invitational volleyball tournament here on Saturday.
The Panthers started the tournament with a 19-25, 12-25 loss to Marysville, but bounced back with three straight wins to advance to the semifinals.
Faith Balthazor had 11 assists and 35 good sets against the Bulldogs.
Jordan Eshbaugh led the team with five kills.
Shania Anguish had nine digs, Hadley Thyfault and Megan James had seven digs each.
Concordia defeated Atchison County 25-11 and 25-23 in their second match.
Eshbaugh once again led the team with six kills, Leyli Beims and Jera Metro each had four kills.
Anguish had 10 digs and Balthazor finished with 11 assists.
The Panthers downed host Sabetha 11-25, 25-18, 25-18 to pick up their second win of the day.
Balthazor had 31 assists and 53 good sets in the match.
Chandler Lamm had seven service points and seven digs.
Eshbaugh had 17 digs and nine kills, Metro led the team with 12 kills. She also had 16 digs.
Concordia wrapped up pool play with a 25-18, 25-21 win over Hiawatha.
Eshbaugh had 13 kills and 10 digs in the match.
Lamm and Anguish each had 12 digs.
Balthazor had 26 assists in the match.
Concordia fell 21-25, 21-25 to Wamego in the semifinal match and lost 25-14, 29-27, 21-25 to Holton in the consolation match.
Eshbaugh had nine kills and eight digs against Wamego.
Anguish finished with nine digs and Balthazor had 14 assists.
Metro had 14 kills against Holton.
Eshbaugh finished with 13 kills and 15 digs and Lamm had ten digs.
Concordia will play in the 4A division II sub-state tournament in Clay Center on Saturday.
Clay Center Community, Chapman and Holton will also be in the tournament.
