A police pursuit Sunday evening led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Concordia man.
According to Cloud County Sheriff Brian Marks, a deputy performed a routine traffic stop on Highway 81 south of Concordia Sunday evening. The vehicle was driven by Jesus Reyes, 26, Concordia. Marks said the deputy noticed a passenger in the vehicle who was acting frightened. The passenger told the deputy they wanted help.
After that, Marks said, Reyes fled, leading the officer on a chase toward Concordia. An officer from the Kansas Highway Patrol put out spike strips in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle.
Once inside the Concordia city limits, Marks said Reyes went eastbound on Sixth Street. A Concordia Police cruiser was struck as it attempted to stop the Reyes vehicle. Marks said after striking the police car, Reyes fled on foot, and was captured after a brief chase on foot.
Reyes was arrested and charged with felony flee and allude, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, violation of a protection order, and domestic battery. He remains in the Cloud County jail on $50,000 bond.
