Ruby Hagen, age 82, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the Community Care Home, Clifton, Kan. She was born on March 29, 1931, near Ruskin, Neb., to John and Viola (Spohnheimer) Wulf.
Ruby's mother died when she was young and she was raised with her sister, Dorothy, by their grandma Spohnheimer in Hebron, Neb. Ruby was married to Robert Hagen for 49 years until he preceded her in death in 2000. She was later married to John Tempel. Bob and Ruby enjoyed traveling to their home in Arizona in the winter and Clifton in the summer. Bob and Ruby opened the first Daylight Donuts in Concordia in 1969 and several other business ventures thereafter. Ruby was known as the "Donut Lady." She was a member of The Baptist Church, Concordia, and loved to bowl, travel, work, eat and interact with people.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Conn and Dan, Concordia, and Bobbie Brown and John, Clifton; sons, Rick Hagen and Vicki, Belleville, and Mitchell Hagen, Clifton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Robert Hagen and John Tempel; her parents; brothers, Kenneth and Lawrence Wulf and sisters, Dorothy Schmidt and Ester Yung.
The family selected cremation and memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at The Baptist Church with Pastor David Fabarez officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
