Subway wins city championship

Jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, Subway defeated Funk Pharmacy 8-3 in the championship game of the Girls’ Junior Softball Tournament Thursday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Subway advanced to the title game by shutting out Cloud County Co-op, 10-0.
Funk Pharmacy downed the American Legion 11-1 in the first round of the tournament.
Cloud County Co-op knocked off the American Legion 18-8 in the third-place game.
Subway collected five straight hits in scoring five runs in the top of the first inning against Funk Pharmacy.
Taegen Larsen, Kendall Reynolds, Mykah Eshbaugh and Peyton Reynolds singled and scored, and Laken Schroeder tripled and scored.
Funk Pharmacy picked up one run in the bottom of the fifth when Kennedy Chrisco singled and scored.
Caitlyn Craig walked and scored a run in the top of the second inning, and Subway led 6-1.
Funk Pharmacy made it 6-2 when Chrisco tripled and scored in the third inning.
Subway added two runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-2.
Larsen and Madison Walters each singled and scored in the inning.
Funk Pharmacy pushed across one run in the fifth inning to make the final 8-3.
Allison Poore walked and scored the run.
Laken Schroeder was the winning pitcher for Subway. She struck out eight.
Poore pitched for Funk Pharmacy.
Larsen had two hits and scored two runs for Subway.
Eshbaugh and Schroeder had two hits each.

Cloud County Co-op broke open a close game with five runs in the third inning, and then added six in the fourth to pull away to the win over the American Legion in the third-place game.
Trailing 4-0 after one inning, the American Legion scored six runs on four hits and two walks in the top of the second inning.
Cloud County Co-op reclaimed the lead at 7-6 with three runs in the bottom of the second.
Taking advantage of five walks, Cloud County Co-op tacked on five runs in the third inning to open up a 12-6 advantage.
The American Legion scored one run in the fourth inning.
Claire Conway doubled in three runs as Cloud County Co-op scored six in the bottom of the fourth to make  it 18-7.
The American Legion added a run in the fifth.
Courtney Mansfield got the win for Cloud County Co-op.
Zoey Estep pitched for the American Legion.
Chloe Conway had three hits and scored four runs for Cloud County Co-op.
Mansfield scored four runs.
Hailey Budke had three hits and scored two runs.
Claire Conway had two hits and drove in four runs.
Karlee Wahlmeier and Cameron Cleveland scored two runs each.
Ashton Cooper scored two runs for Cloud County Co-op.

Eshbaugh threw a no-hitter, and Subway blanked Cloud County Co-op 10-0 in three innings in the opening round of the tournament.
