Seven different players scored goals as the Cloud County Community College men’s soccer team routed Hesston College 9-0 in a home match on Wednesday.
Matthew Colquhoune and Jean Carlo Pinto scored two goals each for the Thunderbirds.
Cloud County also got goals from Alexander Kunz, Jose Diaz, Lucas Trebe, Leonardo Catrina and Daniel Sanchez in improving to 4-4 on the season.
Kunz scored Cloud County’s first goal in the fifth minute of the match.
Cloud County made it 2-0 with a goal just five mintues later.
“The first two goals were just great strikes from outside the 18,” Cloud County coach Derek Talcott said.
The T-Birds scored again in the 30th minute, and went up 4-0 with another goal two mintues later.
Leading 4-0 at halftime, Cloud County tacked on five goals in the second half.
“We were more patient and were looking for a buildup instead of just going foward all of the time,” Talcott said, “I think this helps them understand the more patient we are the better we will be.”
Cloud County plays at Coffeyville on Saturday.
Coffeyville is ranked 14th in the country, and sits atop the Region 6 standings at 6-0.

The Cloud County women shut out Hesston College 4-0 to improve to 3-4 on the season.
Cloud County got out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, and added a goal in the second.
Georgia Walters, Brandi Jones, Kezia Gumbs and Chanelle O’Dwyer scored goals for the T-Birds.
Cloud County takes on 19th-ranked Coffeyville on Saturday.
