Waite joins city commission race

Retta Waite has joined Christy Hasch and Marsha Wentz in the race for two open seats on the Concordia City Commission.
Concordia City Clerk Stacey Crum announced that Waite had filed the necessary paperwork Tuesday to run for a seat on the Commission. Today at noon was the filing deadline for the city and school general election on April 2.
The two seats open on the Commission are currently held by Wentz and Gary Fraser, who did not seek re-election. The top two vote-getters will serve three-year terms on the Commission.
Three people are seeking three seats on the Cloud County Community College Board of Trustees. Current board chair Greg Askren has filed for re-election, as has former chair Dave Clemons. They will be joined by Linda Richard, Miltonvale.
The three seats open for election are currently held by Askren, Clemons and Roger Koester, who did not seek re-election. The three will serve four-year terms on the board.
The election for three seats on the USD 333 Board of Education will not be contested. Board Chair Rick Limon re-filed for his district one, position four seat. Mary Beth Smith filed for her district three, position six seat, and Chuck Knapp filed for his district two, position five spot. None of the three will be opposed in the general election.
In other races in Cloud County, Dani Nelson, Kathy Kindel and Tom L'Ecuyer each filed for spots on the Aurora City Council.
Terry Koch, mayor of Clyde has filed for re-election to that position. Gary Sipe and Edmund Rudolph have both filed for seats on the Clyde City Council.
In Glasco, Edward Bellows and Amy Cool filed for seats on the City Council, and Charles Wilson re-filed for his position as mayor. Two people filed for positions on the USD 334 boards of education. Dennis McAllister re-filed for his district two, position five seat covering the Glasco area, and John Griffin filed for the district two, position six seat on the Southern Cloud Board.
John Herbin and Arlene Ediger filed for the Jamestown City Council, and Randy Smith has filed for re-election as mayor.
In Miltonvale, Darren Bates and Gregory Copple filed for City Council, and Jon Puckett filed for re-election as mayor.
The general election will be Tuesday, April 2.
