WANDA RUTH ZEEK
Wanda Ruth Zeek, 80, Gardner, passed away Nov. 27, 2012, at her home. She will lie in state 1-5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, with visitation 5-7 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Cremation following. Inurnment graveside service at a later date at Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Wanda was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Concordia, Kan., to Lester Noel and Mildred (Evert) Bronson. She grew up in Concordia and attended Concordia High School. She married Orie Don Zeek on Jan. 13, 1951, in Concordia. Orie and Wanda lived many places, moving to Edgerton in 1974 for his work, to Spring Hill in 1984 and on to Gardner in 1988. She was devoted to her children and her work.  Wanda most recently worked for eight years as a greeter at the Gardner Walmart. Previously, she had worked at  Dazey Manufacturing at New Century for 20 years. She enjoyed painting by numbers, loved shopping and collecting dolls including her favorite stuffed animal, Eeyore, from Winnie the Pooh. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orie, in 1982; parents and brothers, Wayne and Floyd. Wanda is survived by her children, Barbara Harrington, Lawrence, Kan., Susan and husband Kevin Poage, Gardner, Kan., Janet and husband James Cain, Lawrence, Kan.; Noel Zeek, Gardner, Kan., and Carol Long, Rantoul, Kan.; sister, Betty Wallace, Concordia, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-granddhildren.
