WILLIAM "BILL" NORMAN LOWELL
William "Bill" Norman Lowell, age 83, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at his home in Concordia, Kan. Bill was born on the family farm near Talmo, Kan., on Nov. 7, 1929, to Loyd N. and Thora A. (Grinstaff) Lowell. He graduated from Concordia High School in 1947. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Jan. 1, 1951, and served in Fairford, England, for three years.
Upon receiving his discharge, Bill returned to the family farm until his retirement on April 1, 1996. He married Loretta Hood on Aug. 2, 1957, in Fairbury, Neb. Bill was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge, Concordia Country Club and later the American Legion Golf Course, all of Concordia.
 Bill is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughter, Cindy Koch and husband Dan; sons, R.J. Lowell and wife Marilyn and Kirk and wife Janet, all of Concordia; brother, Darrel "D.D." Lowell and wife Becky, Savannah, Ga.; sisters, Katherine Langton, Manhattan, Kan., and Janet Dorman and husband Ronnie, Concordia; seven grandchilden and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joanna Proffitt of Sterling, Kan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, with the Rev. Msgr. Barry Brinkman officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral services. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-9p.m. with the family greeting friends from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
