Agwunobi wins 400, qualifies for nationals

SEWARD, Neb. — Cloud County Community College sophomore Chioma Agwunobi won one event and placed in the top three in two others in the Concordia University Invitational indoor track and field meet on Friday.
Turning in a time of 58.14, Agwunobi took first in the 400-meter dash. The time qualifies her for the NJCAA Indoor Championships.
Agwunobi finished second in the long jump with a leap of 17-11 3/4. She placed third, and qualified for nationals in the triple jump with a best of 37-10 1/2.
A national qualifier in the 400, long jump, triple jump and 4x400 relay, Agwunobi ranks first in Region 6 in the 400 and long jump and second in the triple jump.
Tameca Wallace placed fourth in the long jump (17-7 1/2) and in the triple jump (37-7 3/4) in the meet for Cloud County. She qualified for nationals in the triple jump.
Ilesha Boyles ran 7.88 to finished third in the 60-meter dash. She was sixth in the 200 (26.23).
Vanessa Resh placed seventh in the 1,000-meter run in 3:09.72. That time qualifies her for nationals, and ranks number one in the region.
The Cloud County men recorded a pair of first-place finishes in the meet.
Sanjer Pantry ran 1:57.19 to take first in the 800-meter run.
Shilo Goracke placed sixth in 1:59.81.
Cloud County’s 4x400 relay team of Pantry, Dennis Barfield, Denray Ottey and Josh Charles placed first in 3:21.82.
Wayne Northover finished fifth in the 60-meter dash in 7.02, and qualified for nationals.
