Blues win all four in Hebron tournament
HEBRON, Neb. — Posting four straight wins in the Hebron (Neb.) Wood Bat Tournament, the Concordia Blues moved to 10-0 on the season.
Concordia capped off the perfect weekend with a 7-1 win over Hebron on Sunday.
The Blues defeated Geneva, Neb. 5-1 on Sunday and won 10-0 over Minden, Neb. and 12-1 over Geneva on Saturday.
In the win over Hebron, the Blues put up two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Concordia made it a 3-0 game with a run in the third inning.
Two runs in the fifth inning gave the Blues a 5-0 advantage.
Hebron scored its lone run in the top of the sixth inning.
Trevor Nordell drove in two runs in the bottom of the sixth to give Concordia the 7-1 lead.
Nathan Gieber pitched all seven innings to get the win. He allowed one run on three hits, struck out seven and didn’t walk any.
Nordell had two hits, drove in two runs and scored two.
Bowe Behymer scored three runs.
Concordia took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Geneva on Sunday.
The Blues stretched the lead to 5-0 with four runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Geneva picked up a run in the fourth inning.
Jordan Mehl limited Geneva to one run on four hits. He struck out four and didn’t walk any in seven innings.
Behymer scored two runs.
Skyler Hittle tossed a five-inning one-hitter as the Blues downed Minden 10-0 on Saturday.
Hittle struck out two and walked one. He gave up just a single in the first inning.
Leading 1-0 after one inning, the Blues scored four runs on three hits and a walk in the bottom of the second inning.
Scoring five runs on four hits, two walks and an error in the fifth inning, Concordia ended the game because of the 10-run rule.
Nordell had two hits and drove in two runs for the Blues.
Braden Johnson drove in two runs.
Concordia opened the tournament with the 12-1 win over Geneva.
The Blues put up four runs in the top of the first inning.
Nordell drove in two runs with a single.
Concordia tacked on five runs in the second inning, and led 9-0.
Geneva picked up one run in the fourth inning.
The Blues pushed the lead to 12-1 with three runs in the top of the fifth inning.
The game ended after five innings.
Will Strommen pitched three scoreless innings to get the win. He did not allow a hit, struck out two and walked one.
Ryan Perkins gave up one run on two hits in two innings. He struck out one and didn’t walk any.
Nordell drove in three runs and scored three.
Behymer had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three runs.
Tanner Gilbert had two hits and scored three runs.
Mehl had two hits and Gieber scored two runs.
