Champlin earns third straight trip to state
ATWOOD — Concordia High School junior Janae Champlin earned a third consecutive trip to the Class 4A state golf tournament by placing seventh in the regional on Monday at Atwood Country Club.
Carding a 49 on the front nine and a 48 on the back, Champlin finished with a 97.
Champlin was a member of the Concordia team that qualified for her freshman season. She qualified as an individual last year.
The state tournament will be next Monday at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg.
Concordia has now had at least one state qualifier in each of the 10 years the program has been in existence.
The Panthers placed seventh as a team with a score of 459.
Goodland captured the team title with a 383.
Colby shot 398 to finish second and Larned was third with a 413.
The top three teams and the top five individuals not on one of those teams qualify for state.
Concordia’s Stormie Hittle had rounds of 53-52 for a 105.
Autaum Poley shot 65-58 for a 123 for the Panthers.
Bailey Strait rounded out the top four for Concordia with 64-70 for a 134.
Kaitlin Herrick shot 135 for the Panthers, and Kayla Dvorak had a 155.
Miranda Kern, Colby, was the individual medalist with an 86.
