CJHS beats Rock Creek, falls to Clay Center
CLAY CENTER — Concordia split a pair of duals in a junior high wrestling triangular on Tuesday.
The Panthers defeated Rock Creek 35-33, and lost 5-33 to Clay Center.
Blake Leiszler, 85 pounds; Zach Strait, 100 pounds; Rope Dorman, 134 pounds; and Brent Beaumont, 180 pounds, posted 2-0 records for Concordia.
Kyler Caspers, 90 pounds; Alex Bonebrake, 105 pounds; Keaton Rudolph, 120 pounds; Tryston Jochems, 127 pounds; and Austin Higbee, 265 pounds, were 1-1.
Timmy Lambert, 95 pounds; Treyton Kindel, 110 pounds; and Matias Gutierrez, 141 pounds, were 0-2.
In junior varsity matches, Tyler Stupka, 127, was 1-0. Shaheed Darden, 134, was 0-1, and Tyler Kearn, 100, was 0-2.
“We only had one day of practice since Saturday’s tournament, so it was hard to see any noticeable improvement. Every match the beginners get helps them learn from their mistakes. We will continue to work on the basics and hopefully improve as the season progresses,” Concordia coach Doug Moore said.
