CJHS wrestlers lose dual to Abilene
In a dual that came down to the final two matches, the Concordia junior high school wrestling team was beaten 54-42 by Abilene Thursday night in the Concordia Junior-Senior High School gymnasium.
Concordia won the first three matches to get out to a 15-0 lead.
Blake Leiszler defeated Tanner McGivney 4-1 in the 75-pound class.
Alec Ngo, 80, won by forfeit.
Zach Strait pinned Nick Brooks in the 85-pound class.
The Panthers then lost the next six matches.
Kyler Casper, 90, was pinned by Trevor Casteel.
Concordia was open at 95.
Devon Davis, 100, lost by fall to Trey Hoerner.
Cole Larsen dropped a 3-1 decision to Brent Larson in the 105-pound class.
Billy Bechard, 110, was pinned by Michael Anguiano.
Nathan Robinson, 115, was pinned by Cody Wuthnow.
Rope Dorman, 120, picked up a win for Concordia by beating Tristan Kanz, 5-0.
Tracer Workman was beaten 10-6 by Dauson Whiteley in the 127-pound class.
Braden Brownell, 134, was pinned by Hunter Sprouse, and Concordia trailed 42-18.
The Panthers then battled back to tie it up at 42-42.
Blaze Payeur pinned Kyler Markley, in the 141-pound class.
Jacob Palmquist, 148, won by forfeit.
Peyten Reed pinned James Fick in the 155-pound class.
Brent Beaumont, 165, won by forfeit.
Abilene won the final two matches to lock up the dual victory.
Baley Kindel, 180, was pinned by Abilene’s Jaron Christensen.
Russell VandenBroeder, was pinned by Sam Burt.
Concordia split a pair of junior varsity matches.
Davin Strait, 105, was beaten 15-8 by Seth Bowers.
Keaton Rudolph, 115, won a 9-7 decision over Calder McGivney.
“We definitely improved from last Saturday when we wrestled Abilene. Some of the kids competed better, and wrestled their opponents tougher,” Concordia coach Doug Moore said, “One area of overall improvement is from the top position. We are definitely riding better and working for the fall.”
