Eighth grade boys finish third

BELLEVILLE — Blaze Payeur won four events to lead the Concordia eighth grade boys’ track and field team to a third-place finish in the Republic County Invitational on Thursday.
Payeur ran 26.18 to finish first in the 200-meter dash. He won the 400 in 56.71, went 35-7 to win the triple jump and took first in the pole vault by clearing 9-7.
Concordia scored 81.5 points in the meet.
Marysville claimed the team title with 117.5 points. Beloit was second with 114.
The Concordia eighth grade girls finished third with 74 points. Republic County was first with 15 points and Beloit was second with 96.
Concordia finished second in the seventh-grade girls’ division with 98 points. Marysville was first with 114 and Beloit was third with 78.
The Concordia seventh grade boys placed sixth with 58.5 points. Beloit finished first with 82 points. Republic County was second with 81 and Phillipsburg was third with 78.
The Concordia eighth grade boys got a first-place finish by Devin Kymer in the 3,200 in 12:13.66. He was also third in the 1,600 (5:57.85).
Cole Larson placed second in the 800 (2:31.75) for the Panthers.
Concordia’s 4x100 relay team of Matthew James, Ben Peltier, Jacob Palmquist and Ian Nordell finished second (54.47).
Nordell tied for fifth in the 100 (13.44).
Palmquist was fifth in the javelin (108-2).
The Concordia eighth grade girls picked up three first-place finishes in the meet.
Mariah Blazek won the 400 with a time of 1:10.39. She also placed second in the 800 (2:50.28).
Mallory Thompson ran 14:15.29 to win the 3,200. She was third in the 1,600 (6:29.53) and Cassidy Brown was sixth (7:06.95).
Zoe Brichalli took first in the high jump by clearing 4-8. She was fifth in the 100 hurdles (20.22).
Blazek, Jordan Eshbaugh, Hadley Thyfault and Cameron Collins placed second in the 4x400 relay (5:01.93).
Thyfault finished third in the triple jump (29-11) and fifth in the 200 (31.28).
Concordia’s 4x100 relay team of Collins, Thyfault, Jennifer Garcia and Maycie Mendenhall placed fourth (1:01.73).
Eshbaugh finished fifth in the javelin (69-6).
Alex Wilcox was fifth in the shot put (30-8) and Kora Snavely was sixth (30-4 1/2).
Brichalli, Collins, Eshbaugh and Sadie Mosher placed fifth in the 4x200 relay (2:12.99).
The Concordia seventh grade girls recorded five first-place finishes, two by Nicole Timme.
Timme won the 1,600 in 6:25.51 and the 800 in 2:52.80.
Britney Gilkeson was second in the 1,600 (6;30.12) and Roylynn Madden was third (6:30.59).
Peyton Reynolds placed second in the 800 (2:56.01).
Jessica Williams won the pole vault for the Panthers by clearing 9-7. She was also second in the high jump (4-7).
Cydney Bergmann, Laken Schroeder, Sierra Wright and Kristen Colby won the 4x100 relay in 58.65.
Reynolds, Williams, Colby and Bergmann took first in the 4x400 in 5:07.03.
Claire Conway placed second in the javelin (70-4) and Zaide Thoman was sixth (58-11).
Concordia’s 4x200 relay team of Schroeder, Wright, Colby and Brynn Brummett finished third (2:12.99).
Schroeder was sixth in the 100 hurdles (20.42).
Brummett finished sixth in the shot put (26-3).
The Concordia seventh grade boys had Rope Dorman win the pole vault by clearing 9-1. Tyler Stupka was second (8-7).
Austin Higbee finished second in the discus (76-10 1/2).
Matthew Davenport placed second in the 400 (1:05.40).
Stupka, Dorman, Davenport and Billy Bechard finished third in the 4x200 relay (1:59.89).
Blake Leiszler finished fourth in the 800 (2:49.79).
Bechard, Dorman, Davenport and Stupka were fourth in the 4x100 relay (57.67).
Stupka placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (18.76).
Kyler Caspers was fifth in the 1,600 (6:04.28).
Bechard tied for fifth in the high jump (4-4).
