Gathuru wins cross country meet

EMPORIA — Cloud County Community College freshman George Gathuru claimed the individual title in the Emporia State University Invitational cross country meet on Saturday.
Gathuru, Nairobi, Kenya, turned in a winning time of 24:36.40 to place first in the meet.
Cloud County finished 14th as a team with 333 points.
Fort Hays State University won the team title with 32 points. Park University was second with 133 and Johnson County Community College was third with 171.
The Cloud County women also finished 14th as a team with 353 points.
Fort Hays State placed first with 42 points. Baker University was second with 66 and Park was third with 110.
Sanjer Pantry finished 65th for the Cloud County men in 28:03.20.
Jimmy Phitts Rodriguez ran 28:55.90 to place 99th.
Desi Thomas was 100th in 28:56.60.
Zach Earhart finished 134th in 30:18.00.
Cole Callaway crossed in 144th place in 31:04.00, and David Gregory was 146th in 31:29.90.
The Cloud County women were led by Vanessa Resh, who placed 24th with a time of 19:39.20.
Page Reed ran 21:38.60 to finish 89th.
Roxanne Tyrell was 110th in 22:10.70.
Alani Dodd finished 121st in 22:57.30, and Kendra Alcorn was 128th in 23:09.90.
