Mvoto betters school record
LAWRENCE — Marie Mvoto bettered her own Cloud County Community College school record on her way to placing fifth in the discus at the KU Relays.
Mvoto, a freshman, recorded a best of 161-5 to top the record of 158-5 she had set the week before.
Cloud County’s 4x400 relay team of Sean’e Mapson, Kiandra Jones, Chioma Agwunobi and Vanessa Resh finished sixth in 3:55.65.
The University of Kansas won the race in 3:31.87.
The Cloud County men had freshman Josh Charles place fifth in the 400 dash with a time of 48.02.
Fernada Blakely, Shocker Track Club, took first in 46.28.
Cloud County’s 4x400 relay team of Charles Denray Ottey, Wayne Northover and Ronnin Oquin ran 3:17.74, and would have qualified for the finals, but was disqualified.
University of Kansas senior Heather Bergmann threw 162-2 to win the javelin.
Bergmann is a graduate of Concordia High School.
