Panthers win triangular

CLAY CENTER — The Concordia High School boys' tennis team opened its season with a dual against the Clay Center Tigers on Tuesday.
Clay Center won 10 matches in the dual and Concordia won three.
In singles play, Concordia's Joshua Wood fell 6-4 to Brody Kramer and shut out Luke Hauserman, 6-0.
Concordia's Bricen Benyshek downed Hauserman, 6-1. He was beaten 6-3 by Kramer.
Isaiah Steffen fell 6-1 to Clay Centers' Brock Ferguson in singles play.
Concordia's Brett Rosenbaum was defeated 6-2 in singles play by Brody Rosenow.
Malachi Carder lost 6-2 to Clay Center's Taige Pfizenmaier.
Andrew Henderson, also playing singles for Concordia, was beaten 6-0 by Brooks Craig.
In doubles play, Steffen and Carder lost 6-4 to Ferguson and Pfizenmaier and 6-2 to Rosenow and Craig.
Ferguson and Pfizenmaier also defeated Rosenbaum and Henderson, 6-2.
Rosenbaum and Henderson lost 6-0 to Rosenow and Craig.
Wood and Benyshek slipped past Kramer and Hauserman, 5-4.
The Concordia junior varsity competed in the Ellsworth Invitational on Tuesday.
Keigan Workman finished fifth in number one singles for Concordia. He downed Jacob Colglazier, Larned, 6-4 in the fifth-place match.
Qwinter Thrash placed third in number two singles for the Panthers.
Thrash went 1-1 in pool play. He had a 6-3 win over Emilio Zarate, Scott City, and then beat Lardon Hanley 6-0 in the third-place match.
Kaedyn Newton and Colton Berk suffered two losses in number one doubles. They received a bye in the fifth-place match.
