Rimrodt places fifth in singles for CHS
HESSTON — Concordia's Marcel Rimrodt picked up two wins on his way to placing fifth in number one singles in the Hesston Invitational tennis tournament on Tuesday.
Rimrodt was beaten 8-6 by Carter Tappen, Trinity Academy, in the opening round. He bounced back to beat Nathaniel Clennan, Hutchinson Trinity, 8-6 and Anthony Lloyd, Wichita Independent, 8-5 to place fifth.
Concordia finished eighth as a team with five points.
Hesston won the team title with 42 points. Goddard finished second with 28 and Wichita Independent was third with 28.
Josh Timme placed seventh in number two singles for Concordia. He fell 8-5 to Ethan Mitchell, Wichita Independent, and 8-4 to Josh Purdy, Goddard, and then defeated Luke King, Hutchinson Trinity, 8-6.
Paul Frost and Ben Peltier suffered three losses for the Panthers in number one doubles. They were beaten 8-0 by Hesston, 8-0 by Parsons and 8-0 by Smoky Valley.
Himal Bhakta and Connor Reynolds, playing number two doubles for Concordia, fell 8-0 to Hesston, 8-5 to Parsons and 8-2 to Trinity Academy.
