T-Bird 4x400 second at Jayhawk Classic
LAWRENCE — Turning in a time of 3:19.54, the Cloud County Community College 4x400 relay team placed second in the Jayhawk Classic indoor track and field meet, hosted by the University of Kansas.
Denroy Ottey, Josh Charles, Denray Ottey and Sanjer Pantry ran on the 4x400 squad for Cloud County, which qualified for the NJCAA Indoor Championships.
Kansas won the race in 3:16.82.
Charles finished second in the 600-yard dash in the meet with a time of 1:14. Denray Ottey was seventh in 1:15.50, and Pantry was eighth in 1:16.03.
Cloud County’s George Gathuru ran 2:26 to place fifth in the 1,000-meter run, and was seventh in the mile in 4:27.34.
Wayne Northover went 47-6 1/2 to finish fifth in the triple jump.
David Hall placed seventh in the high jump by clearing 6-6 3/4.
