T-Birds end season with 3-2 win

Cloud County capped off its season with a 3-2 home win over Northwest Kansas Technical College in men’s soccer action on Thursday.
The Thunderbirds, the defending NJCAA champions, will not advance to the Region 6 playoffs.
Cloud County had to forfeit 10 wins, and finished 3-7 and tied for seventh in the region.
The T-Birds were 5-15 overall.
Northwest Tech, 4-6, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match.
Oscar Montoya scored for the Mavericks in the 13th minute.
A second goal by Montoya in the 20th minute made it 2-0.
Chris Lavery scored for Cloud County, off an assist from Adam Halliday, in the 32nd minute.
The T-Birds pulled even at 2-2 when Andy Powers scored 19 minutes into the second  half. Eddy Milien got the assist.
Lavery tacked on a second goal just a minute later to put Cloud County up 3-2.
The T-Birds shut out the Mavericks the rest of the way.
Northwest Tech had 13 shots on goal to seven for Cloud County.

The Cloud County women dropped their final match of the season to Northwest Tech, 5-1.
Tania Portillo scored just five minutes in, to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
Cloud County tied it up at 1-1 on a goal by Brandi Jones in the 11th minute.
Less than a minute later, Portillo knocked in her second goal.
Brenna Schulz scored consecutive goals, and Northwest Tech led 4-1 at halftime.
Daisy Rosales scored for the Mavericks in the second half.
Cloud County finished up the regular season at 9-11.
Northwest Tech is 5-4-1.
The T-Birds will play at Hutchinson in the opening round of the Region 6 playoffs on Monday.
