Two Panthers place in top five

ROSE HILL — Skyler Hittle and Cameron Miller recorded top five finishes for the Concordia High School wrestling team in the Rose Hill Invitational.
Hittle placed second in the 195-pound class for the Panthers. Miller was fifth in the 113-pound class.
Concordia had just five wrestlers compete in the tournament, and scored 44 points to finish in 16th place.
Derby won the tournament with 148.5 points. Valley Center was second with 138 and Andover Central was third with 137.5.
Hittle received a bye in the opening round of the tournament on Friday. He pinned Cody Curl, Hutchinson, in 2:28 and Hugh Kluckman, Pine Creek Academy, in 1:46 to reach the semifinals.
Defeating Tanner Cusick, Mulvane 5-1, Hittle advanced to the championship match.
John Metcalf, Fort Scott, won a 7-1 decision over Hittle in the finals.
Miller also received a first-round bye. He pinned Dylan Keplar, Andover Central, in 1:20 and won a 10-0 decision over Nathan Moore, Augusta.
Eventual champion Hunter Furnish, Andale, defeated Miller 4-2 in the semifinals.
Miller lost a 4-3 decision to Cody McDonald, Derby, and then beat Eric Hildenbrant, Pine Creek Academy, in the fifth-place match.
Gage Canfield, 120; Keenan Edwards, 145; and Kyle Marks, 220, each went 1-2 in the tournament for Concordia.
Canfield lost 13-0 to Blake Cusick, Mulvane. He pinned Duncan Edgin, Larned, and then fell 8-4 to Toby Gray, Rose Hill.
Edwards was pinned by Paul Suhr, Andover Central. He pinned Cooper Tade, Andale, and then lost by fall to Senecca Stucky, Hutchinson.
Marks lost by fall to Luke Weldon, Valley Center. He pinned Jacob Funschelle, Maize South, and then lost an 8-4 decision to Gage Clark, Chanute.
