Deliberate Kin to kick off 2019 Plaza Concert Series

Deliberate Kin, a North Central Kansas-based folk and bluegrass group, will kick off the 2019 Broadway Plaza Concert Series on May 23.
The Concert Series is in its third year and is sponsored by the city of Concordia and the Community Foundation for Cloud County.
Deliberate Kin features husband and wife Alex and Amanda Jo Reisenweber and released its debut album “Things Happen.” The group spent 2018 engaging in a grassroots following, earning loyalty and praise. Their live show is an open invitation to feel a bold range of human emotion. It reminds you of how vital of an instrumental the home voice can be. A positive energy radiates through their warm acoustic tones. This unique style lingers long after the lights have gone down.
Performing on June 27 will be Kansas Music Hall of Fame inductees Jimmy Dee and the Fabulous Destinations.
Musicians from Victoria formed the group Jimmy Dee and the Fabulous Destinations in the 1970s. Their high energy show featuring hits form the 1950's and early 1960's propelled the band into one of the most popular groups to ever perform in western Kansas.
Performing at clubs and dance halls, the group routinely packed the house every weekend with their most loyal supporters traveling upwards of 100 mile ts to attend performances.
Six members of the original group agreed to get back to together in 2000 and have since recorded three albums, “Round Trip”, “Summer Fund-Dang Near Live” and “Totally Live.”
Red Line Velocity will be performing on July 25. The power rock trio was formed in the spring of 2015 by Grant Lambert and Tommy Watt of Smith and also includes Jason McCartney.
Influenced heavily by classic and modern rock, Red Line Velocity harkens back to the days of exciting, fun live music.
Wrapping up the concert series on August 22 will be the Callahan Band of Wichita.
The Callahan Band is a rowdy county band with a hard drivin', fast beat. The band seems to draw fun-loving crowds wherever they go.
The concerts are free and open to the public. The start time for each is 7 p.m., and they are BYOB.
The Broadway Plaza Movie Series will begin on May 9 with the showing of “Rear Window.”
“A League of their Own” will be shown on June 13 followed by “The Jungle Book” on July 18, “Mrs. Doubtfire” on August 8 and “Ferris Bueller's Day Off” on September 12.
Start time for each of the movies is 7 p.m. And they are fee and open to all ages.
