CCCC music ensembles are accepting new members

The Cloud County Community College community music ensembles, under the direction of new music instructor Chris Langsford, are accepting new members.
The ensembles, which include the Concert Band, Jazz Band and Community Chorale, are all open to Cloud County students and members of the community, ages high school and older.
The Concert Band meets for rehearsals on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Its repertoire includes traditional band selections, marches and contemporary works.
The Jazz Band meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. It performs pieces from the Big Band Era as well as modern jazz.
Rehearsals for the Community Chorale are on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:55 p.m.
All rehearsals are in the college music room, SC100.
The Community Chorale features voices from Concordia and north central Kansas. It emphasizes the idea of the “singing city” where friends and neighbors gather together to rehearse and perform music from different time periods, with an emphasis on fostering the arts and music in Concordia and the surrounding area.
The three ensembles will combine for two performances this semester, a Fall Concert on October 20 and a Holiday Concert on December 8. Both performances will be in Cook Theatre, on the Concordia campus.
Langsford has also started the Rolling Thunder Drumline and the Percussion Ensemble in his first year at Cloud County.
An elite and integral musical component of Cloud County's music program, the Drumline exemplifies the musicianship, school spirit and energy of the college. The group will perform at athletic events, music concerts and other campus events throughout the year.
